Introduction

Prescriptions. Fragment (6.4 x 4.2 cm) from a papyrus a roll written on the recto along the fibers. The text is arranged in two columns: Col. i is almost entirely preserved along the left and right sides and contains three recipes introduced by a short title set in ekthesis (ll. 5, 8); Col. ii is poorly preserved and only few letters survive at the beginning of the lines. The prescriptions in Col. I are written according to a traditional structure consisting of title, list of ingredients and preparation; the last two remedies were regarded as effective respectively against warts and wounds. The papyrus is written in a well legible cursive script that could be dated to the late 1st-early 2nd c. AD.

(This papyrus has been digitally edited by Francesca Corazza as part of the Project "DIGMEDTEXT - Online Humanities Scholarship: A Digital Medical Library based on Ancient Texts" (ERC-AdG-2013, Grant Agreement no. 339828) funded by the European Research Council at the University of Parma (Principal Investigator: Prof. Isabella Andorlini). The digital edition is mostly based on the previous editions (ed.pr. = F. Reiter, P.Paramone 3))
