Introduction
Prescriptions for plasters (GMP I 11 = P.Giss.Univ. IV 45). The text survives on two papyrus scraps, fragment A (PHaun inv. 326c; 4,6 x 10,2 cm) and fragment B (PGissUniv IV 45; 4,5 x 6 cm). Fr. A is written parallel with the fibers on the recto of a tall, narrow strip of papyrus and comes from the lower part of a column. It is broken off on three sides, but is complete at the bottom with a margin of 1,8 cm. The column once contains presumably 23-4 letters per line, with a width of ca. 6,5 cm. Fr. B contains six lines from the lower part of a column; the form and size of letters, the similar configuration of the damage at the left-hand edge and the content suggest that the two fragments could belong to the same roll. Fr. B probably supplies a portion of the column that either precedes or follows on fr. A. The medical recipes could be intented for cicatrising plasters due to the presence of substances with emollient property in addition to the metallic drugs. The script is a medium-sized, upright, round bookhand and should probably be dated to the late first century BC. Amounts for wet and dry ingredients are both given in drachmas, indicated by the symbol of a sinusoid crossed with a bar (fr. A, l. 11-3). An abbreviation with upsilon above the preceding letter occurs at fr. A, l.12 (λιθαργ\υ/(ρ-)).

σ̣[ύμμετρον suits the context, but seems too long, and another word that extends into the next line before ἀπόδος is needed. Cf. Orib. Ad. Eun. III 13.11 [CMG VI 3,407,18-9 Raeder]. A good alternative to σύμμετρον might be a preposition introducing the term for the container.

A possible integration is ἀμόλυντον/ἀμόλυντος or ἄνοσμος: cf. Gal. Comp. per gen. V 2 [XIII 786,6-8 K].

The formula ἄρας ἀπὸ τοῦ πυρὸς introduces a pause in the preparations before additional ingredients of a different nature and consistency are dealt with: cf. Gal. Comp. per gen. II 22 [XIII 558,16-8 K] and PHeid inv. G 845 II 15-8.
