Introduction
Medical recipes. Fragment (6.5 x8 cm) from a parchment codex preserving on each side the remains of a single column comprising respectively 16 and 15 lines. The manuscript contains three recipes on the front and one on the back, introduced by a short title (ll. 5, 8-9 A) and separated from each other by the diplè obelismene (l. 7 A). Dicola are frequently employed to mark single ingredients, which are measured in drachms, ounces, doses and spoonfuls. The prescriptions provide accurate information on ingredients, dosage and preparation; the third one on the front side deals with the treatment of nephritis. The manuscript is written in a brown ink and can be dated to the 5th-6th c. AD on paleographical grounds.
