Introduction

Medical prescription. Fragment (7.5 x 7 cm) of a papyrus sheet broken on top and right sides, containing on the recto the lower portion of a single column of writing (verso is blank). Left margin 1 cm, lower margin 1,7 cm. A kollesis runs vertically through the middle of the scrap. The text contains an ointment (περίχριστος) with astringent effect that may be useful for treating persisting secretions, probably in connection with eye diseases. The writing is of a small size, neat and careful, of the so-called ʻSevere Styleʼ. The hand may be placed between the late 2nd and the early 3rd cent. AD.
