Introduction
Collection of opinions. A damaged papyrus fragment (9.5 x 16 cm), broken off on all sides except for the top, where the upper margin survives to a length of 2.7 cm. It preserves remains of 32 lines arranged in a column and written on the recto along the fibers. No lecture sign occurs; in ll. 6, 11, 20, 24, 31 a blank space is left to indicate the end of a section. After a brief introduction enouncing general statements about medical art and practice, the papyrus lists four opinions of various auctoritates (Nikeratos of Athens, Antoninos of Kos, and two unknown physicians from Thessaly and Miletus) on therapeutical herbs (liquid asphalt, Syrian cedar, plane tree and white poplar, respectively). The same opinions occur in the same order – but without any mention of the name of the physicians – in Dsc. MM 1.73-81 W. The fragment is written in a neat severe style of medium size, slightly slanting, assignable to the beginning of the 3rd cent. AD.
