Introduction
Medical text. Fragment (6.5 x 9.5 cm) of a papyrus roll written on the recto along the fibers (back blank). The upper margin is preserved (ca. 3.5 cm), while the other margins are lost; the orthography is poor and a few corrections are entered by the same scribe in the space between lines. The medical content is concerned with the treatment of a disease whose name does not occur in the surviving lines. Therapeutic indications, including purging, fasting, bathing and the use of warm water in order to provoke sweating, are provided for the first days of the disease. Written in a medium-sized, rounded script characterized by some ligatures, the papyrus could be dated to the 2nd c. AD.
(This papyrus has been digitally edited by Francesca Corazza as part of the Project "DIGMEDTEXT - Online Humanities Scholarship: A Digital Medical Library based on Ancient Texts" (ERC-AdG-2013, Grant Agreement no. 339828) funded by the European Research Council at the University of Parma (Principal Investigator: Prof. Isabella Andorlini). The digital edition is mostly based on the previous edition (M. Gronewald, P.Köln VII 293).)
