Introduction
Medical treatise. Fragment (6.5 x 15 cm) of a papyrus roll broken on the upper and left sides. The verso preserves the ends of 26 lines from the lower part of a single column (on the recto, a fragmentary register: PUG 2.59). The text provides a brief and summary description a capite ad calcem of limited portions of the body, specifying, case-by-case, the number of the bones involved. This fragment was probably part of a practical manual De Ossibus (περὶ σκελετοῦ) deigned to aid anatomical teaching. The hand is an informal bookhand with cursive tendencies assignable to the 1st cent. AD.

Notes
- 1-6.
The lacuna probably contained a description of the vertebrae (see Andorlini 2006, 87).
- 9.
‘Twelve’ (ιβ) would correspond with the number of the thoracic vertebrae (cf. Gal. Ossibus 13 [2, 763.9-12 K]), but it could also refer to the bones of the hands (see Andorlini 2006, 87-8).
- 12-5.
It is difficult to point out the precise topics under discussion here; we can only say that the author seems to oppose ἀφαιρέσεις (‘amputations, removals’) and ἐπιφύσεις / προσθέσεις (‘accretions, attachments’); see Andorlini 2006, 89.
- 15.
The beginning of this line remains obscure, but we would expect the femur (μηρός) to be mentioned, see Andorlini 2006, 89.
- 17.
The number twelve may refer either to thoracic vertebrae, or, more probably, to ribs (αἱ πλευραί), see again Gal. Ossibus 13 (2, 763.9-12 K).
- 19.
It is by no means easy to define what is meant by τὸν αὐτόν.
- 20.
τῶν γὰρ ἐν τῷ marks the transition to a new textual section dealing with a different region of the body, maybe the face (πρόσωπον), see Gal. Ossibus 5 (2, 752.14-5 K).
