Introduction
Commentary on / unknown version of Hp. Vict. 2.49.2-3 (6, 552.5-11 L). Small fragment (8.2 x 4.5 cm) of a papyrus roll broken on all sides, preserving on the recto poor remains of two columns of writing: col. I contains scanty traces of three lines, col. II the beginnings of ll. 4-9. Intercolumnar space is about 2 cm. Verso is blank. There are paragraphoi below ll. 7 and 8, and a coronis in the margin opposite l. 8. Despite the lacunosity of the text preserved, small but striking verbal matches suggest P.Tebt. 3.897 contain a commentary on Hp. Vict. 2.49.23, or a so-far unattested version of this passage, in which different kinds of meat are compared. The text was written in a slightly sloping, semi-literary hand assignable to the late 3rd cent. AD.
